LTE: "Democrats support troops in odd ways"

[This guy nails it in a letter to the editor in today's Richmond Times-Dispatch.]

Editor:

It is always comforting to hear the Democrats telling us how they support the military. We have certainly seen the evidence of their support in the past.

In 2000 the Democrats supported the military by going to court to make sure many of the troops' absentee ballots in the presidential election didn't count.

They have also supported the military by demanding rights for terrorists at the expense of the safety of the military and the public.

Certainly the military was ecstatic when Dick Durbin (the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate) accused the military of behaving like the Nazis who murdered 6 million Jews. Not one Democrat demanded Durbin's removal from leadership.

Perhaps the ultimate demonstration of the Democrats' support of the military has been their three-year commitment to the United States' defeat in Iraq.
