Texans cleaning up after Hurricane Ike

As Texas mops up after Hurricane Ike, it is good to know more lives were not lost. Even one is too many ... but the prediction of a possible 20-foot storm surge made many fearful there would be far more casualties. There is widespread property damage and electricity is out for millions.

Schools and universities throughout the area are closed; some grocery and retails stores are opening to provide needed goods for residents.

Video footage shows widespread damage.

For updates on it all check out KTRK TV-13 from Houston.
