Augusta: 2005 Bolling-McDonnell event at horse farm

In October 2005 Bill Bolling, running for lieutenant governor, and Bob McDonnell, running for attorney general, attended a get-out-the-vote event at the horse farm of Kevin and Vonda Lacey in Augusta County. Jerry Kilgore, running for governor, was not able to make it.

The Bolling campaign paid for the food and I catered with a menu of chili, hotdogs, and tons of sides and desserts. Kevin had practically sterilized the horse barn so we set up tables in there loaded with food, and placed coolers outside with soft drinks and bottled water.

It was a gorgeous October afternoon with the autumn leaves in full color as hundreds came out to see the line-up of candidates who stood on the flatbed trailer lined with hay bales while the Laceys' horses grazed in the background. The Laceys' huge front yard became a parking lot filled with vehicles of over 100 people.

Special guest was Bill Bolling as well as Bob McDonnell, Delegate Ben Cline, Delegate Chris Saxman, Delegate Steve Landes, local electeds, and Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman. There were speeches and applause and much fun that day.

Another of the events Kurt and I coordinated throughout the years for our candidates....
