Press releases and busy writers

Most outlets email press releases in an easy-to-access manner: They include them within the body of the email. No downloading necessary -- saves time and is convenient.

Why, then, do some electeds and others send attachments with all their press releases? Listening to others, more often than not those informational attachments are ignored by busy writers who are bombarded by those who would like their causes, issues, and campaigns noted in blogs and online newspapers.

Note to those sending press releases: If you make it part of the email (and not an attached file), there's a better chance it will be read and possibly written up as news of interest to readers.
