Autumn in the Shenandoah Valley ... a rainy day

Western Augusta County

Finally! After forecasts calling for rain fizzled twice in the past week, I woke during the night to hear the soft but steady sound of rain falling on leaves. Perfect sleeping weather ... temps in mid 50s with a cool breeze ... and rain.

This morning is it gray outside ... a light but steady drizzle continues ... the mountains are obscured by fog. The promised cooler temps are here ... this weekend's predicted overnight lows may bring our first frost.

It is also raining leaves as they let go and fall in the wind and rain. At higher elevations that will leave bare trees but here in the Valley there are plenty of trees in the process of changing colors so there will continue to be a color show after the precipitation passes.

I love a rainy day. Fall is in process....
