Statement from Chaz Evans Haywood on the passing of Richard Connellee

Candidate for Clerk of Court Chaz Evans Haywood had the following statement about the passing of Rockingham Commissioner of Revenue Richard Connellee:
By now you have heard that our community has lost a great man. Richard Connellee, our Rockingham County Commissioner of the Revenue was a man that was devoted to his family, church and community.

Richard has been a great friend to me for many years. We have attended church together at Mount Olive Brethren Church in Pineville where he was one of our Elders. Pastor Fred Miller said it best that "Richard loved his wife as a man should love his wife...loved his children as a man should love his children" and I would add that he loved life as a man should love life.

Over recent months we have spent even more time together at every parade and lawn party. You can see in Richard's smile the joy he brought to all who knew him.We will all miss him greatly. The world was a better place for many because of him. Chaz

Our prayers go out to Richard's family. The community has lost a great individual. I have so many fond memories of Richard..from our days at Mount Olive Brethren to the his recent 2007 re-election campaign.
